Miss Knock - IWSA Cocktail
Posted by Irish Whiskey USA on

The Miss Knock cocktail is the IWSA riff on the Carijillo iced version, made popular in Mexico. Carijillo is Spanish for 'courage'. The cocktail is said to have derived from Spanish soldiers drinking it before heading into battle. The Spanish hot version originated as a shot of espresso and rum or brandy. In Mexico, the iced version combines espresso and Licor 43, a popular vanilla and citrus flavored liqueur.
The IWSA version puts an Irish Whiskey twist on the Mexican recipe while retaining a similar flavor profile. We combine dark roast coffee, Irish coffee flavored liqueur, and Irish vanilla-citrus liqueur. Since 'courage' is 'misneac' in Irish, we anglicized the pronunciation into Miss Knock.
