Virtual IWSA Member Review of Slane Irish Whiskey

Posted by Irish Whiskey USA on

Join us for a virtual review of Slane Irish Whiskey on Thursday April 1st at 8pm eastern.  Experience the cráic of a group review tasting led by the crack IWSA team. Rather than just a written or video review that you watch on your own, we wanted to make this a more inclusive experience with other IWSA members.  While not required, those participating will be encouraged to participate with thoughts and discussion about the whiskey.  This is intended to be the first in an ongoing series which will focus on different whiskies.

Slane Irish Whiskey is a triple casked blend from the Slane Distillery located on the Slane Castle estate in County Meath.  Owned by US drinks giant Brown-Forman of Jack Daniels fame, this Irish whiskey is available across the country for average price around $25-$30.  The connection with Brown-Forman allows for the use of a nice variety of casks including virgin oak, seasoned oak previously containing Jack Daniels, and Oloroso sherry.

The entry level price reflects the size and distribution clout of Brown-Forman as this blend offers some wonderful nose and taste characteristics from the 3 distinct casks used in the blending process.  We will explore this whiskey with you and solicit feedback and opinions from IWSA members.

We also want everyone to have their go to everyday Irish whiskey blend on hand as a comparison.  This will allow us to do a little compare and contrast of the different available offerings from the growing Irish distillery community.

This is a free event for IWSA members only.  If you know of others who may be interested please invite them to join the IWSA hereWe chose this whiskey partly due to its wide availabilty and price level to encourage participation in the group review event.  Your local liquor store should have full and possibly mini bottles on hand.

For those who do not have or cannot obtain Slane Irish Whiskey for this event, the IWSA will be happy to arrange shipment of a 750ml bottle.  Please contact us separately to arrange purchase & shipping by March 20th to ensure on time delivery.

Register your interest here.  A zoom link will be sent out ahead of the event.
